『엄마가 유령이 되었어!』는 귀엽고 사랑스러운 표지를 펼치자마자 “엄마가 자동차에 부딪쳐서 유령이 되었습니다.” 하고 충격적인 시작을 합니다. 내가 갑자기 죽다니, 화들짝 놀란 마음을 겨우 달랜 엄마 유령은 자신이 죽은 것보다 아들 건이가 더 걱정입니다. 엄마 없이 우리 아들, 괜찮을까요? 건이가 궁금해 집으로 날아가 보니, 아니나 다를까 할머니 품에서 엉엉 울고 있는 아이가 보입니다. 엄마 유령은 건이와 할머니 주변을 맴돌며 자신의 존재를 알리지만 아무도 엄마 유령의 모습은 볼 수 없습니다. 그런데 그날 밤, 12시가 지나자 기적처럼 엄마 유령의 모습이 건이에게 보입니다. 드디어 서로 말을 나눌 수 있게 된 두 사람, 이제껏 하지 못했던 마음속 깊은 이야기를 하나둘 꺼내기 시작합니다.

“My mom was hit by a car and turned into a ghost.”

Startled by the suddenness of her own death, the ghost mom barely manages to calm herself—only to find that she is far more worried about her son, Geon-i, than about being dead. Without his mom, will her little boy be okay?

Curious and anxious, she flies home, where she sees Geon-i sobbing in his grandmother’s arms, just as she feared. The ghost mom circles around Geon-i and his grandmother, trying to make her presence known, but no one can see her.

Then, late that night, after midnight, a miracle happens: Geon-i can finally see his mom’s ghost. At last, the two are able to talk. Together, they begin to share the deep feelings and unspoken thoughts they had never been able to express before.
