『쥬디 할머니』는 박완서 단편문학의 뛰어난 성취를 새로이 조명하기 위해 기획된 책으로, 31명의 한국 대표 소설가에게 ‘박완서 단편 소설 전집’(전7권, 문학동네, 2013)에 수록된 97편의 단편소설 가운데 최고의 작품 2~3편을 추천받아 최종 10편을 선해 엮었다. 지금도 널리 회자되며 읽히는 불후의 명작 「도둑맞은 가난」 「나의 가장 나종 지니인 것」뿐 아니라, 그간에는 잘 알려지지 않았지만 현재에도 주목할 만한 의외의 작품 「쥬디 할머니」 「애 보기가 쉽다고?」 「세상에서 가장 무거운 틀니」 등 총 10편이 수록되었다.

Grandma Judy is a specially curated collection designed to shed new light on the brilliant achievements of Park Wan-suh’s short fiction. To create this book, 31 of Korea’s leading novelists were invited to recommend two or three of their favorite pieces from the 97 short stories included in The Complete Short Stories of Park Wan-suh (7 volumes, Munhakdongne, 2013).

The final selection of ten stories includes timeless masterpieces that are still widely read and discussed today, such as "Stolen Poverty" and "My Very Last Possession." It also features lesser-known but remarkable gems that deserve renewed attention in the present day, such as "Grandma Judy," "Who Says Babysitting Is Easy?", and "The Heaviest Dentures in the World."
