Overview
The fourth edition was edited with a focus on how readers can use English, which has become a universal language, more easily and flexibly in each field. For this purpose, many new data collected so far were selected and supplemented mainly for practical use, and existing contents were reviewed and refined and supplemented one by one from a new perspective. The points emphasized in the revision work are as follows. → The size of the type was enlarged to the maximum--Easy to see. → Significantly supplements important new words and phrases. Reinforcement--New science, electronics, economy, society, current affairs, daily life, etc. → Many living examples are included--I have included examples that can be used as it is in practical English writing and conversation. → The reference column related to headings has been added--so that a wide range of knowledge about related matters can be obtained. → The appendix contains various contents that can be referenced in various fields based on the latest data.

편집 작업을 진행하였다. 이를 위하여 그동안 수집한 많은 새로운 자료들을 실용 위주로 선별 보충하였고, 기존의 내용들을 새로운 시각에서 일일이 검토하여 다듬고 보완하였다.
개정 작업에서 역점을 둔 점은 아래와 같다.
활자의 크기를 최대한으로 확대--보기 쉽게 하였다. 중요 신어, 어구 등을 대폭 보충.보강하였고 살아있는 예문 많이 수록하였다. 표제어에 관련된 참고란을 증설해 관련 사항에 대한 폭넓은 지식을 얻을 수 있도록 하였다. 크기는 4X6배판(127X188mm).
